Artemis Technologies will be based out of the University of Cambridge campus, and the new company has a bold ambition, “to become a world leader in high-performance yacht design and technology”, said Artemis Racing and Artemis Technologies CEO, Iain Percy.

With experts from the fields of motor sport, aerospace and yacht design; Artemis Technologies will utilise its world class skills in simulation, lightweight structure engineering, electronics, hydraulics, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, to deliver real innovation to our customers through unique solutions and products.

Iain Percy continued, “At the end of the America’s Cup in Bermuda last summer, we knew we had something special and wanted to keep this talented group together. We immediately began the process of writing a business plan, identifying where we needed to strengthen through recruitment, and most importantly, where to base ourselves”.

Integrated into the University of Cambridge’s world leading engineering department, Artemis Technologies has already begun collaborating with the University on a number of ground breaking projects.

Simon Watin, Head of Simulation, commented, “The main driver of our move to the University of Cambridge was to forge links outside the traditional yacht design community to drive innovation in the fields of computational simulation, materials, construction techniques and instrumentation. By housing ourselves within one of the world’s premier Universities we also have a number of formal and informal opportunities to expand our knowledge”.

The core philosophy of Artemis Technologies is to develop techniques that allow for fast and accurate evaluation and optimization of designs, and the new company already has a number of exciting commercial projects underway, with further announcements to follow in the coming months.
