Artemis Technologies recently played host to the Denmark SailGP Team which spent time on the company’s world leading mechanical hardware in the loop (mHIL) marine simulator.

The team worked with Artemis Technologies CEO and two-time Olympic sailing champion Dr Iain Percy OBE as part of its preparation for the first ever Italian SailGP event being held on 5th-6th June.

The high-performance professional sailing team utilised the simulator to assist with training and other elements easier to carry out on land rather than on the ocean.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to use the Artemis Technologies simulator to build our experience in the F50 catamaran. As a new team coming into such a competitive league, with the world’s best sailors racing some of the most challenging boats, inexperience can be very costly, so we’re doing our best to close the gap – and this is a great tool for us to do just that. Together with Iain Percy and the Artemis team, we’re using our experience and feedback to tweak and improve the simulator, making it even more realistic – and I think we’ll see great benefit from the hours we spend onboard.

The simulator originally built for Artemis Racing, moved to Artemis Technologies’ Northern Ireland base earlier this year to help streamline the development process and prototyping of the company’s Artemis eFoilerTM electric propulsion system and new green high-speed vessels while also attracting professional sailing teams from across the world to assist with coaching.
